Our Top 5 Met Gala Looks as Lighting Fixtures

Last night, we watched fashion history unfold as the 2019 Met Gala went underway. This year's exhibition and gala theme come from words from Susan Sontag's Notes on Camp. Camp, by definition, is all about exaggeration, extravagance, and glamour, all while being "dead serious" at the same time. Many celebrities and designers rose to the occasion and came out dressed wonderfully wild. Some of the most fabulous looks reminded us of some of our own designs. Here are 5 of our top looks and their Varaluz inspirations:

Billy Porter in The Blonds NYC

Billy Porter rocked "Sun God Realness" wearing a design from The Blonds NYC. Varaluz inspiration:

The over-the-top gold and glitter of the Matrix 3 Tier Chandelier match Billy's wild elegance perfectly.

Charli XCX at Met Gala in Jean Paul Gaultier

Charli XCX looking camp-tastic in this bright yellow gown from Jean-Paul Gaultier. Our Varaluz inspiration:

Urchin Pendant by Varaluz

Our Urchin Pendant in Un-Mellow Yellow matches Charli's dress perfectly. Both inspired by oceanic forms, these two bright beauties go hand-in-hand.

Celine Dion at Met Gala in Bob Mackie

Celine Dion danced her way down the pink carpet in a fabulous champagne silvery number by Bob Mackie. She could not have looked more divine! Our Varaluz inspiration:

Orbital Chandelier by Varaluz

Our Orbital Collection has all that glitters, just like Celine! Her headpiece that jets out in all directions reminds us of the crystal arms that adorn our fave crystal collection.

Laverne Cox at Met Gala in Christian Siriano

Laverne Cox gave us a space-age rendition of vintage Hollywood Glamour in this black and mint number by Chrisitan Siriano. Our Varaluz inspiration:

Area 51 Chandelier by Varaluz

This Area 51 Pendant in New Bronze is the perfect match to Laverne's mix of old style and new elements. The Area 51 collection is classic Mid-Century Modern with a little bit of UFO flair.

Katy Perry at Met Gala in Moschino

Last but certainly not least, we cannot forget the lovely Katy Perry. She came dressed as a literal chandelier in this Moschino gown and headpiece! We welcome her with open arms to the lighting industry and hope that she might stop by Lightovation in June in this number. Our Varaluz inspiration:

Barcelona Chandelier by Varaluz

Our Barcelona Collection pairs perfectly with Katy's campy chandelier dress. Adorned with premium heirloom crystal and a Gaudi inspired frame, the Barcelona Collection is fit for a fashion museum.

We hope you enjoyed watching all of the fun red carpet looks unfold this year. We certainly did!
