This week, we’re excited to kick off a new series on our blog, spotlighting some of our favorite designers and influencers. We’ll be asking them about their style and design philosophy and finding out how they incorporate Varaluz lighting into their work. We love to see the creative ways that designers use our lighting in ways we could never have expected. Kicking off the series is designer and lifestyle influencer Judith Delgado of Interior Design by Judith. Judith brings a love for details and home accessories to her work. We asked her about a recent dining room remodel project with our Lafayette chandelier as a central element. Judith explains her design process and choices here.

Tell us about this project.

The Lafayette chandelier was the starting point for this dining room refresh. The gold finish and crystals set the tone for the rest of the design. We picked up the gold in the area rug and other decorative accents in the room. The mirrored surface of the table and breakfront extend the glam. The look is formal, feminine, and luminous.

What were the most important elements?

The long outline of the chandelier informed the other elements. It perfectly anchors the room and is ideal over a dining table. The upholstered dining chairs soften the look. I had a lot of fun with the decorative accents. They all come together to create an elegant, formal look in the room, where the homeowners can create special memories of dining together.

What was your process or inspiration for the lighting of the project?

The room has abundant natural light, but it needed the perfect chandelier. The horizontal, tiered structure of the Lafayette ticked all the boxes. The tiers of the chandelier add dimension without adding heaviness. The crystals allow the fixture to interact with the light in the environment.

What is your favorite design style or design philosophy?

Definitely glam!

How important is sustainability in your design?

I always think of the importance of choosing a design that will have a minimal negative impact on the environment. That’s one of the aspects of Varaluz’s collections that really appeals to me. I appreciate that a product that is so environmentally friendly is also so chic.

What is your favorite Varaluz fixture and why?

The Matrix collection fixtures are my favorites. They match my personality and style and are so easy to incorporate into my designs.
