Daphne 372S01LMBFG 1-Light Ceiling Light - Matte Black/French Gold

Please notify me when this product is available.

Taking its cues from the Ryan NYP Spirit of St. Louis, the plane used on the first solo flight across the Atlantic, our Daphne collection takes you on an inspirational flight of the imagination. The gold and black fins on this dynamic design are inspired by the radial engine that powered the aircraft on its record setting flight. Fun fact: the Daphne name is taken from a photo of a woman named Daphne observing a placard honoring the event.

A Varaluz Collaboration with the Smithsonian

Designer Ron Henderson’s love for science, aeronautics, and anything historical, began early in his career as a former pilot, Air Force Captain, and Boeing Engineer, with a degree in aerospace engineering (essentially rocket science). So, when the opportunity to collaborate with the Smithsonian presented itself, it was a lifelong dream come true. With nearly 155,000,000 artifacts in their collection to choose from, finding the ideal inspiration for lighting, furniture, mirrors, wall décor and accessory collections was a lot easier than, well, rocket science.
