Article: DESIGNED FROM POSSIBILITIES

DESIGNED FROM POSSIBILITIES
When you see more in a lighting fixture—make it your own.
In Southern Utah, the landscape makes a statement. Set within Entrada, a community defined by a distinctly modern architectural aesthetic, Paddington House was designed within specific guidelines that shaped the home’s exterior and architectural language. Stone carries from outside to in, while tongue-and-groove wood ceilings continue the natural material story throughout the home.

But the homeowners weren’t looking for a completely modern interior. Having previously lived in a much more traditional home, they wanted warmth and softness alongside the clean lines of the modern architecture. Parkway East Design principal designer Eleena Speck responded by layering in texture, trim, warm woods, and soft detailing—creating a home that feels connected to its modern setting while still feeling personal and inviting.
For Speck, the goal was never simply to meet the architectural parameters of the setting. It was to create a home with warmth, personality, and a sense of ease—a place that could feel polished enough for its modern surroundings while still feeling comfortable and lived in.
“The result is a home that feels cozy and inviting, just what our clients were hoping for.”
— Eleena Speck, Parkway East Design
That same philosophy carried into the lighting. Speck saw the potential in the Lila Chandelier by Varaluz, but envisioned something different for the space. Working with CIANA’s custom capabilities, she adapted the design to complement the home’s proportions and aesthetic—creating a fixture that feels like it belongs there, while still carrying the distinctive character of the original Lila (featured on page 80 of the Utah Style & Design, Summer 2026 issue).
That’s the beauty of semi-custom: the design doesn’t have to end where the original design begins.
Start with a piece that speaks to you. Then make it belong to your space—its scale, its character, its story. With CIANA’s custom capabilities behind the scenes, designers can take a fixture they’re drawn to and shape it into something distinctly their own, preserving the essence of what inspired them while creating something that feels as though it was always meant to be there.
At Varaluz, we believe the best ideas often begin with what’s possible. Designed from Possibilities means giving designers the freedom to take a design somewhere new—and having the custom capabilities to help bring their vision to life.
Because sometimes, making something your own doesn’t mean starting from scratch.
It means seeing what could be—and having the capability to bring it to life.
